Once upon a time in a mysterious land, a rescue of historic proportions happened. It all started on a quiet morning when a knight and his lady went to a local food emporium to seek sustenance for their exciting day.
As they exited their carriage the lady heard a sound that struck her as rather odd. The knight insisted the sound they heard was that of another carriage's alarm. No, no, the lady was certain it was the sound of a wee kitten. The proclamation of the babe was scared, hungry, lost, and in distress.
"We must find the kitten. It needs our help!" Declared the lady.
"No, surely you are mistaken. That is another carriage's alarm." Maintained the knight.
Nevertheless, this wise lady would not be deterred. Carefully looking under the nearby parked carriages, the lady finally sighted slight movement. "Here! It is here!" She exclaimed.
Lowering herself to the ground, the lady completely ignored the dirt gathering on her clothes, as she crawled as closely as possible to the wee gray kitten. In quiet, soothing tones the lady employed her charms in attempts to woo the kitten to her.
The poor thing was frightened and would not get close enough for the lady to snatch it. Try as she might, the lady could not get the kitten to come to her.
Not willing to give up, the lady sent the knight in search of a secret charm spell, something that would surely lure the kitten to safety. The knight dashed away to retrieve such a precious elixir that no living being can resist, especially a scared, hungry, lost little kitten.
What charm? What precious elixir could cast such a strong spell?
BACON!
The lady accepted that secret charm spell from the knight, still lying on the ground, she split the elixir into small droplets, that might tempt the wee kitten.
Alas! To no avail! While the kitten was hungry and the secret charm was enticing, the fear of stranger-danger was overpowering the kitten. It would not approach the lady.
"My dear knight, you go to the other side of the carriage. I will distract the wee kitten with the BACON, and you grab the kitten."
The BACON, that secret charm spell, that precious elixir, did prevail! Â
So tempted was the wee kitten by the smell wafting from the BACON it did not notice the knight coming from behind. Just like the wind snatching a hat from one's head, the knight successfully snatched the kitten who squirmed in fear to be released.
The lady recovered herself from the ground as quickly as she could to join the knight and kitten on the other side of the carriage. Once there, she took the dear little kitten from the knight and held onto it tightly.
There was a hurried conversation about what to do. The knight and lady still needed to obtain sustenance, but now there was a kitten to attend to. It was decided the wee kitten would be placed securely in their own carriage along with the BACON and they would continue with their previously laid plans for the morning.
Upon finishing their time at the food emporium, the knight and lady returned to their carriage ever so carefully and quickly entering so as not to permit the wee kitten an escape. They should not have worried so because the kitten had taken refuge far under one of the seats.
Pulling the kitten out, the lady sat clutching the kitten to her, cooing at it in soothing tones, the entire ride back to their castle.
Reaching the castle, the lady showed the knight the paper on which the BACON had been laid. It had been eaten through! The wee kitten was so hungry, it consumed all the BACON and part of the paper where the BACON had rested!
That wee kitten never had to worry about another meal for the remainder of its life. And BACON was offered to it every time it was prepared at the castle, though once was seemingly enough for this wee kitten.
This is the story of how BACON rescued a wee kitten from a lonely, dangerous life and instead brought Shadrach M'hail into our lives.
